How can I whiten my teeth quickly?

Everyone desires to have a smile that can brighten anyone’s day. A set of pearly white teeth and a beautiful smile are a treat to the eyes, undoubtedly. But, ideal dental aesthetics are hard to achieve as not everyone is naturally blessed with aligned, bright, and perfect-sized teeth. Studies reveal that Americans spent over USD 11 billion on teeth whitening, so the obsession with dazzling teeth is evident. But, the looming question is if there are quick ways to whiten teeth? Let us find out.

Ways to quickly whiten teeth

  1. Using baking soda to brush teeth: Baking soda is a kitchen ingredient that has taken the entire world by storm, particularly for its teeth whitening properties. Toothpaste infused with baking soda is mildly abrasive and can effectively scrub away extrinsic teeth stains. Moreover, the alkalinity of baking soda prevents the growth of bacteria and helps curb the accumulation of plaque.
  2. DIY whitening kits: Numerous at-home teeth whitening kits are available in the market to give your teeth the immaculate sheen. Whitening strips are pretty effective in whitening teeth at home. These strips are very thin, almost invisible, and are coated with a peroxide-based whitening gel. Also, teeth-whitening products that contain carbamide peroxide – a kind of bleach: are very efficacious in cleaning both surface stains and deep dental stains. It also has the potential to alter the natural color of the teeth. It takes one-two weeks for results to be visible.
  3. Proper brushing and flossing: The most fundamental part of our daily oral hygiene regimen is often ignored. But, brushing and flossing have magical abilities as they are the best ways to keep teeth healthy, white, and clean. Thorough brushing prevents the buildup of plaque. As such, the teeth remain in optimal condition. For better results, you may use an electric toothbrush.
  4. Oil pulling with coconut oil: Although there exists no scientific evidence to prove the teeth-whitening properties of oil pulling, people swear by its efficacy. It is a traditional Indian remedy to improve oral health and remove toxins from the body. Oil pulling involves gurgling and swishing the oil inside the mouth to remove bacteria. Moreover, coconut oil which contains lauric acid, reduces inflammation and kills bacteria. Thus, oil pulling with coconut oil may whiten your whiten, but it will surely provide other invaluable benefits like bacteria reduction and prevention of diseases like gingivitis.
  5. Dietary changes: Often, our dietary habits cause our teeth to stain and look yellow. Dentists assert that any food item that can stain a white t-shirt can discolor your teeth. Hence, beverages like coffee, tea, and red wine can lead to the yellowing of your teeth. So, it is advisable to avoid them or drink them in moderation if the goal is to whiten teeth quickly. On the contrary, there exist many foods whose consumption can whiten teeth. Calcium-rich foods like milk, cheese, and broccoli help in enamel restoration.
